Federal
Budget Passes Congress
February 2, 2006
Yesterday the U.S. House passed the budget reconciliation
bill that the Senate passed in late December. The vote was
very close 216-214. All Democrats, 1 Independent, and 14 Republicans
(five of whom changed their vote due to your advocacy) voted
against the budget reconciliation bill. bill. Click

Thank you for your calls to your Members. Despite this loss,
we fought hard and came very close to defeating this budget
which will cut health care for the poor, student loans, child
support and child care by $40 billion to fund billions of dollars
in give-aways to wealthy special interests.
We are now beginning the advocacy process on the 2007 Budget
and Appropriations. If you would like to receive Action Alerts
about these, please join the NASW

Thank you for your advocacy. |
