| NASW Assurance Services Website |
For 40 years, the National Association of Social Workers, through the NASW Insurance Trust, has offered a variety of insurance programs and services to you and your NASW colleagues.
During that time, the NASW Insurance Trust has evolved to meet changing member needs, and today, proudly serves more than 70,000 NASW members with professional liability and/or group insurance products and services.
It's against that backdrop of history, service, and quality that we are pleased to announce an important and exciting change: NASW Insurance Trust has now become NASW Assurance Services, Inc., a wholly owned sub-corporation of NASW.
The creation of NASW Assurance Services does not change anything for existing NASW member insureds - your current products, services, benefits and insurance premium remain unchanged. Social workers will continue to control and oversee the activities of NASW Assurance Services. However, NASW Assurance Services will be looking to make improvements in the future. This new structure gives NASW important input into the type and marketing of member benefits, and will allow NASW Assurance Services to offer new and enhanced insurance and financial products and services.
The establishment of NASW Assurance Services will also mean more support for programs important to NASW members than was possible under the NASW Insurance Trust structure programs such as the Social Work Reinvestment Initiative and the Social Work Public Education Campaign. The bottom line: you should see the strengthening of services and benefits supported and offered hy NASW Assurance Services to advance the well being of NASW members and the social work profession.
The creation of NASW Assurance Services was the result of careful analysis and a thoughtful process led by the NASW Insurance Trust Board of Trustees and the NASW National Board of Directors over a multi-year period. Structural change was included as part of the Trust's 2005 strategic plan, independent consultants were engaged to provide analysis, and the Trust conducted a variety of studies, focus groups and interviews with NASW members and non-members, Chapter executive directors and the NASW Board of Directors.
The evidence was compelling: changing the NASW Insurance Trust to NASW Assurance Services was the most effective way to improve benefits and services for insureds, diversify the range of products and services available to members, and support the important work of NASW. NASW is committed to keeping you informed. For more information, please check online at www.socialworkers.org/assurance, and be on the lookout for updates. In the meantime, we want to be as responsive as possible to your questions or suggestions, and invite you to submit them:
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to NASW, NASW Assurance Services, and the social work profession.
Sincerely,
Elvira Craig de Silva, DSW, ACSW |
