Medicare and Inpatient Services: Coverage, Rights & Resources During Care Transitions Thursday, February 23, 2012 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM ET Credit Hours: 1 CEU(s) Social workers play a key role in helping clients access inpatient medical and rehabilitative care under original Medicare and private Medicare Advantage plans. Such assistance is critical as Medicare beneficiaries transition between care settings, such as from a hospital to a skilled nursing facility. Yet, the rules and regulations surrounding Medicare coverage for inpatient care are complex. Through short, composite case studies, this presentation will provide concrete casework strategies and resources to help social workers understand the types of inpatient care Medicare covers, the requirements that must be met to access such coverage, and the right to appeal coverage denials. 1 Social Work CE will be provided.
