NASW Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning Out of Home Youth
The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Foundation Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Questioning (LGBTQ) Out of Home Youth Project is designed to help build the capacity, awareness and skills of social workers and other child welfare professionals to better serve the needs of LGBTQ youth living in foster care, juvenile justice centers and homeless shelters.
In partnership with Lambda Legal, 40 master trainers from throughout the United States completed a two-day Train the Trainer Program in spring 2009, with each of the 40 master trainers committed to training an additional 40 service providers, bringing the total child welfare professionals trained to at least 1600.
