Hope Conference Speakers

Professor & Endowed Chair
The University of Texas at Austin, School of Social Work

Roberta Greene, PhD, MSW, is a Chair in Gerontology at the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin and a clinical social worker with a PhD in human development.  She has worked for the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) as a staff member and was instrumental in passing the 1987 Nursing Home Reform Act. She also worked for the Council on Social Work Education as a curriculum development specialist.

Dr. Greene has written a classic text used in schools of social work around the country. Human Behavior and Social Work Practice is now in its 3rd edition.  That text is complemented by Human Behavior Theory: A Diversity Framework now in its 2nd edition. Dr. Greene is the author of twelve books and numerous research articles. In addition, she serves on a number of editorial review boards and was a recipient of the 2004 NASW Pioneer Award and the AGE-SW 2005 Career Achievement Award.

She earned her MSW from Michigan State University and her PhD from the University of Maryland.
