Nancy A. Humphreys, DSW, is a Professor of Policy Practice and director of the Nancy A. Humphreys Institute for Political Social Work at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. Dr. Humphreys is Chair of the Policy Practice concentration, Chair of Macro Foundation Practice, and Chair of the Macro Theories HBSE faculty. She teaches courses in policy practice, macro foundation method, political social work, and also teaches in the doctoral program. Her areas of specialization include public child welfare and family services, women’s issues, social work education, and social work in Armenia. She was the former dean of the University of Connecticut, School of Social Work and the former President of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).

Dr. Humphreys was recipient of the 2003 Lifetime Achievement Award from NASW and in 2002 was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Yerevan State University, Republic of Armenia. She earned her MSW from the University of Southern California and her DSW from the University of California.
