Call for Abstracts:
5th International Conference on Social Work in Health and Mental Health

I have great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 5th International Conference on Social Work in Health and Mental Health to be held in Hong Kong, December 10-14, 2006. We hope that we can share our creative innovations of social work practice with social workers from all over the world. In addition to interesting integrations of Western approaches with local cultural practices of Chinese medicine and exercise that we are keen to share, you shall enjoy ample opportunities to exchange with social workers from different social and cultural backgrounds, thereby explore new possibilities of invention of knowledge and practices in promoting health and mental health.  The ideas and experiences in the North Amercia will be ones of the most important part for this endeavor of cross-cultural exchange and innovation.  Please reserve these dates and start to plan your presentations. The deadline for early bird registration and submission of abstract is March 31, 2006.

The theme of the conference is: Living in Harmony - Creative Synergy in a Stresful World.  There are 14 sub-themes and should be wide enough to cover aspects of social work practice which are of interest and concern to you.  Please go into our web http://www.swh2006.com for further details. 

As the local host, let me emphasize that this Conference is not only ours but yours. You can make oral presentation, conduct skills workshop or roundtable discussion, and set up booth for exhibition as we now plan to have. If however you have other good ideas or formats of presentation which you deem more suitable for the practices you want to share, you are most welcome to submit your proposals for consideration.  On-line submission of abstracts is available on our website.  Submission of proposals for other innovative formats of presentation can be sent to the Secretariat at swh2006@hkcss.org.hk.   Please note also that a number of awards have been set up by the organizers for outstanding practices, projects or researches.  Check out the details from the attached flyer or our website.
