 More than 31,000 NASW members have stood up for the future of social work, and our powerful voice is being heard on Capitol Hill. If you have not had a chance yet, take two minutes now to send Congress your letters in support of the Dorothy I. Height and Whitney M. Young, Jr. Social Work Reinvestment Act (H.R. 5447/S. 2858). This crucial legislation ensures the future and viability of our social work workforce by securing federal and state investments in professional social work and increasing support and recognition for recruitment and retention of social workers. Currently, we have 80 cosponsors in the House and 14 cosponsors in the Senate, including Sen. Barack Obama. During this critical election year, we must remind our members of Congress, and our next Administration, that social workers have a powerful voice.
