Clinical Social Work Practice Alert

Have you Been Selected to Participate in the Clinical Social Work Practice Information Survey?

The National Association of Social Workers and more than 70 other health care professional organizations are conducting a comprehensive multi-specialty survey of clinical social workers and other health care professionals.  The survey is collecting up-to-date characteristics of practices from a variety of health care disciplines, and will be used to positively influence national decision makers.

The section of the survey pertaining to clinical social work practice expenses is very important in determining accurate and fair representation for clinical social workers.   NASW requests that you complete the entire section as accurately as possible.  The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has indicated it will use the results of this survey to help determine clinical social work reimbursement.

The survey firm, Dmrkynetec, has been retained to contact randomly selected clinical social workers to collect confidential responses.  At this time, clinical social workers have completed 72 per cent of the surveys.  NASW has a goal of collecting 100 per cent and encourages clinical social workers who have been chosen to participate in the multi-specialty practice survey to respond to incoming calls, faxes or e-mails from Dmrkynetec.  This is very important especially since the survey will determine payment for clinical social workers who render psychotherapy services.

Post cards were mailed to clinical social work participants on June 11, 2008.  If you received one, it is an indication that you have been selected to participate in the survey.  You may verify your participation at the following online link:

Please complete the survey and return it at your earliest convenience.  If you have been selected to participate and have any questions about the survey, you may call Dmrkynetec toll-free at 1-877-816-8940 and ask to speak with one of their executive interviewers about the 2008 Clinical Social Work Practice Information Survey.

Many thanks to clinical social workers who have already completed and returned their surveys to Dmrkynetec.
