New Psychological Testing Codes

July 2006.  This practice update discusses the new psychological testing CPT codes that became effective January 2006.  Depending on state statutes, clinical social workers in independent practice who have received training to perform tests and instruments, may be reimbursed at the discretion of a third-party payer.  Others may bill as incident to the physician.  The American Medical Association‘s copyright provisions prohibit the electronic transfer of CPT codes.  Members may obtain a copy by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelop to:
