Special Projects, Conferences, and Events

NASW has initiated the Social Workers Across Nations (SWAN) Project to provide a mechanism for social workers to offer their expertise and skills to serve humanitarian needs within the international community on a voluntary basis and to develop collaborative linkages with organizations in other countries around the world.  Visit the SWAN page to learn more about NASW’s work on convening meetings of international social workers, organizing international social work travel delegations, taking part in international consultancies, and hosting professional exchange visits.

HIV/AIDS and Mental Health Training and Education Spectrum Project - The goal of the HIV/AIDS and Mental Health Spectrum Project is to provide the necessary HIV and mental health practice skills for people working in social work, mental health, and substance abuse fields to enhance and promote culturally competent practice with individuals, families, and communities affected by HIV/AIDS.

Healthy Families, Strong Communities Project - NASW has been awarded a grant from the United Nations Foundation for a project entitled “Healthy Families, Strong Communities.”  This is part of a United Nations Foundation (UNF) initiative to motivate the U.S. and the broader international community to significantly improve maternal health and achieve universal access to reproductive health (Millennium Development Goal # 5).
NASW takes part in the annual Social Work Day at the UN and World Social Work Day
