Social Workers Believe Stronger Families Make for a Stronger America

Stronger, healthier families are a Gore priority

WASHINGTON—Stronger families build stronger communities resulting in a stronger country. Nothing is more important to Americans than family and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) supports Al Gore’s efforts to strengthen families, especially working families, in America.

Al Gore has fought for working families for more than twenty years. "We need policies that value real families—that let parents balance work and family, and make our schools, hospitals and communities more friendly to families’ needs," says Gore. Social Workers agree with Gore and and share the belief that families and communities should instill values that create strong, healthy children for a better society. Gore’s policies help parents balance professional and personal life, creating more opportunities for parents to spend time with their children, thereby putting family first.

Social workers know first-hand how important parental involvement is in children’s lives. Good parenting skills, time and less financial stress all play a part in building strong families. By focusing on families and issues important to them, Al Gore hopes to ensure that families can successfully balance their lives, eventually leading to a better country.
