Online Portal to Extensive Social Work Content Launches on First World Social Work Day

The National Association of Social Workers Has Created a Portal to Make Web Content at Schools of Social Work, Specialty Social Work Organizations, NASW Chapters and all NASW Web Sites More Accessible.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Web searchers looking for information and resources about numerous social service and psychosocial topics will now have the entire social work profession at their fingertips.

In celebration of the first ever World Social Work Day, the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), has launched a new online search tool to help students, educators, journalists, policymakers and various professionals quickly find Web content on a wide range of issues.

“We are pleased to be able to offer the profession and its many constituents a user-friendly way to locate the most current social work research, advocacy tools and consumer resources from multiple social work organizations, says NASW Executive Director Elizabeth J. Clark, PhD, ACSW, MPH.  “By launching the portal on World Social Work Day, we hope to raise awareness about all the ways professional social workers are making a world of difference, here and across the globe.”

Links to the Social Work Portal (www.socialworkers.org/swportal) can be found on the NASW national Web site, www.SocialWorkers.org, as well as on multiple NASW-affiliated Web sites—including the social work profession’s consumer Web site, www.HelpStartsHere.org

Powered by Google® search technology, the new Social Work Portal will help the public find information about social work issues, services, education and careers—all in one place, from more than 100 sources.  In the coming months, additional social work Web sites will be added to the portal in an effort to make it the most comprehensive gateway to research, education, policy, and practice information about the profession.
