Legislation and Policy

Half in Ten Act, H.R. 3300 – Establishes a Federal Interagency Working Group on Reducing Poverty to develop and implement a national plan to reduce poverty by half in ten years and work toward eradicating extreme poverty, child poverty, and the persistent disparity in poverty rates found in communities of color

RISE Out of Poverty, H.R. 3573 - Focuses on reducing child poverty by permanently authorizing the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program as a funding stream for subsidized employment, and revise the work participation rules for families receiving cash assistance

Employment Non-Discrimination Act, H.R.1397/S. 811 - Prohibits employment discrimination on the basis of actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity

Reauthorization of Temporary Assistance to Needy Families or TANF TANF is designed to help needy families achieve self-sufficiency. The assistance is time-limited and promotes work and responsibility. The TANF block grant is administered by state, territorial and tribal agencies.
