PACE announces endorsements and contributions in the 2000 Capitol Hill races.
NASW's Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE) in November issued endorsements of, and in some cases made financial contributions to, the campaigns of candidates for U.S. House and Senate seats in the 2000 election.
PACE's Board of Trustees issues endorsements based on factors such as candidates' support of NASW's legislative priorities, their opponents' records, viability of the candidates' campaigns, and chapters' recommendations.
The PACE trustees decide whether candidates receive an endorsement or both an endorsement and a contribution. In addition, according to PACE Coodinator Katherine Levy, contributions may be given without endorsements, primarily at fund-raisers attended by NASW staff, and in some of those cases, endorsements may be issued later.
