From January 2001 NASW NEWS The NASW Practice Research Network survey clearly shows that social workers in organizational settings see more clients who are male, of color, and both younger and older than do those in private practice. In organizational settings, 52.8 percent of clients are female; 30.5 percent are under 18 years old; 16.6 are over age 65; and 64.9 percent are white, 23.3 percent black, 2.3 percent Asian and 9.5 percent other. In private practice, 65.2 percent are female; 15.8 percent are under age 18; 5.2 percent are over age 65; and 84 percent are white, 8.9 percent black, 1.3 percent Asian and 5.9 percent other.
