Grant Info Easy to Get

Information on grant programs can be found in one readable place.

Looking for an easy place to review all of the grant programs offered for fiscal year 2001 by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health services Administration (SAMHSA)?

The giant federal agency has released an issue of Snapshots, a publication that simplifies and amplifies all its grant programs, giving service providers, state and local substance abuse and mental health administrators, educators, consumers, faith and family organizations all the information they need in one readable and compact place.

Snapshots offers general information, including a brief overview of how SAMHSA's grant review process works, suggestions on how to get started in grant writing, identification of what an application packet should contain and tips about what works in development and presentation of applications.

Snapshots contains details of fiscal year 2001 guidance for applications (GFAs). In addition to eligibility criteria, project descriptions and funding priorities, there is information about when grants will be announced, dates when applications are due and award dates for each GFA. There is also contact information for SAMHSA program staff for particular GFAs and applications for those wishing to attend technical assistance workshops.

While there may be slight changes in the scope or emphasis of some of the grant announcements by the time they appear in the Federal Register, SAMHSA said it hopes Snapshots will "stimulate the field, encourage new grant applicants and build stronger and more competitive applications."
