From March 2002 NASW NEWS Trainers' Training Held
NASW on Feb. 8 held a training of trainers in Washington, D.C., for its Bereavement Practice Guidelines for Social Workers in the Emergency Department curriculum. Trainings over the next four months are scheduled in 15 NASW chapters: Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, North Carolina, Louisiana, Utah, Iowa, Idaho, Alaska, Ohio, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Missouri, Texas and Nevada. The purpose of the curriculum is to prepare social workers in emergency rooms to assist families who experience the loss of a child due to accident or illness. It was developed in 2000-2001 with funding from the Emergency Medical Services for Children Program in the Health Resources and Services Administration's Maternal and Child Health Bureau. NASW will be a supporting sponsor at the Emergency Medical Services for Children Program's Third National Congress on Childhood Emergencies, April 15-17 in Dallas. The NASW project will be exhibited.
