Membership Dues Income Tax Deduction

Members who qualify to deduct membership dues payments from income taxes should note the following:
For the calendar year ending Dec. 31, 2011, 17.5 percent of the annual NASW dues payment is not deductible. The percentage is based on the amount of association lobbying activity in 2011.

‘Restoring Hope’ Conference

Accepting submissions: NASW is accepting proposals for presentation at the 2012 NASW National Practice Conference “Restoring Hope: The Power of Social Work,” July 22-25, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington. The conference will focus on best practices, policies and research findings that incorporate hope and resilience into social work practice. Abstracts are encouraged in all social work practice areas, and at all levels of practice. Submission deadline is 11:59 p.m., Jan. 15. Registration for the conference begins in January. Research Trips

Cuba Report: In early 2011, NASW sponsored two professional research trips to Cuba to learn about social services in health care, child welfare and aging. To learn about the activities of both social work delegations and findings from the experience, download the report.
