Over the past 25 years, we have witnessed vast scientific advances. Such advances, including functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), have greatly assisted, and improved, the field of addiction. This presentation will describe predisposing factors of addiction, as well as, the basic neurobiology of addiction to assist clinicians in gaining a greater understanding of addiction. Thus, improving treatment methodology.
