How can we serve, if we cannot communicate? How can we advocate, if we do not understand? This webinar focuses on the lessons and implications of Standard 9 of the NASW Standards for Cultural Competence in the Social Work Profession - Language and Communication. Our capacity to be effective practitioners, managers, advocates, policy makers depends on our ability the engage in interaction in which the "meaning" of words shared are understood as intended. Challenges in communication arise between people of different cultures, languages, literacy, hearing ability, visual ability, or other abilities that affect communication. This webinar will offer strategies to assist social workers plan and implement effective communicate effectively to forge positive cross-cultural professional relationships.
