As a profession, social work places much emphasis on diversity and cultural competency, which are incorporated in Our Code of Ethics. In the 2015 revision of our Standards and Indicators for Cultural Competence in Social Work Practice, the National Committee on Racial and Ethnic Diversity revised the definitions of culture and cultural competence and added a definition of cultural humility that is important to social work practice at micro, mezzo, and macro levels. This webinar will review the central concepts of cultural humility, provide opportunities to examine one’s own attitudes and practices in relation to diverse clients, and articulate opportunities for culturally humble practice across micro, mezzo, and macro practice settings.
