Social workers come into contact professionally with sex offenders through the legal system, child advocacy, sex offender treatment, child protective services, private practice and shelters. Focus will be on identifying the types and characteristics of sexual offenders, understanding the risk factors in assessing issues specific to offender programming and community safety and what constitutes standardized sex offender treatment goals. 1.5 Clinical CE hours will be provided.
Please be aware that due to the nature of work with this population, case examples may include language or descriptions that include sexual or vulgar language that may be personally offensive. NASW and the presenter ask you to keep in mind that such content is in the context of professional education.
