Social Work Month Materials Released

SW month logoIn March, National Professional Social Work Month will advance the theme "Social Work: Purpose and Possibility," focusing on recruiting new social workers to the profession. NASW promotes Social Work Month by providing chapters, schools of social work and others with materials so that they can tailor efforts to their own regions. The Social Work Month Toolkit, available on NASW's Web site, offers press release suggestions, sample letters to the editor, a template for a Social Work Month proclamation, media outreach tips, op-eds and other resources. This year, the toolkit will include two sets of media outreach materials, one focused on recruitment and another on consumers.

To promote the theme of this year's Social Work Month, NASW is also developing a Web promotion that will highlight "50 Ways to Use Your Social Work Degree." The page will go online in March. Also in March, an online form will be posted to allow other social workers to add their profiles to the page. Some will be written profiles, while others will have more interactive elements, including blogs, interviews, or photo albums. In addition to the profiles, the page will offer information on social work areas of practices, quizzes to help guide people to a career in social work and other recruitment tools.
