Context

Finances

Received financial statements as of Feb. 28, 2013

Treasurer Mary McCarthy reported that as of Feb. 28, 2013, NASW’s total asset position was $17.3 million. Total expenses as of Feb. 28, 2013, were $11.1 million, $318,000 below budget due to cost containment efforts across divisions.

Approved the FY 2013-14 budget.

The board approved a budget of $16,033,156 with revenue equal to expenses.

Programs

Table the FY 2013-14 program plan.

The board voted to table the FY 2013-14 program plan until the June 2013 NASW board of directors meeting. NASW operates with a yearly program plan that is linked to the budget. Using Delegate Assembly goals and imperatives approved by the Social Work Congress, program goals are developed and translated into program activities.

Governance

Approve the consent agenda.

NASW International Chapter

Approve Option A.

Option A, which would dissolve the NASW International Chapter as of June 30, 2013, failed to pass.

Approve Option B.

The approved Option B will dissolve the International Chapter as of June 30, 2013. In an effort to retain a special network for NASW members living abroad, the National Office could distribute a Request for Proposals to the other chapters asking for proposals to form a special interest unit for the former members of the International Chapter within the structure of an existing chapter.
