NASW-Ohio Director Receives Excellence Award

Advocacy Honor

Danielle Smith receiving Excellence in a State Issue Campaign award

The Women in Government Relations’ Excellence in Advocacy Awards recently honored NASW-Ohio Executive Director Danielle Smith (pictured center) with the Excellence in a State Issue Campaign award. The award recognizes an effort wherein the advocate(s) successfully impacted the outcome of a state or local legislative or regulatory problem or opportunity on behalf of their cause, issue, client, organization or coalition. Ohio is a battleground in efforts to roll back the clock on bodily autonomy through bans on abortion and gender-affirming care, and criminalization of providers. Smith was noted as a visionary leader at the forefront of this resistance. Joining Smith in accepting the award are Sarah Butts, director of public policy at NASW (left) and Dina Kastner, public policy and advocacy manager at NASW.
