NASW California: Assembly Member Introduces Licensure Compact Bill

enamel pin depicting the California state flagCalifornia Assembly Member Corey A. Jackson, DSW, MSW (60th District), introduced AB 427—The Social Work Interstate Licensure Compact. This groundbreaking bill will remove licensing barriers, expand access to care, and strengthen the social work profession, according to the NASW California Chapter. AB 427 was lobbied during Lobby Days 2025, offering California Chapter members their chance to make a direct impact on social work policy. Attendees had the opportunity to learn, advocate and connect with fellow social workers in Sacramento in April.


NASW Maryland: Learn the ABCs of the Effective Use of Data

person holding a computer tabletThe NASW Maryland Chapter hosted a Lunch and Learn webinar that focused on how qualitative and quantitative data points support data-driven interventions. Presenter Patricia Roberts-Rose, LCSW-C, discussed the ABCs of the effective use of data and explored how both qualitative and quantitative data help shape mediations that improve attendance, behavior, culture and climate in schools. Attendees learned skills to collect, organize and analyze student-related data effectively.


NASW Ohio: Chapter Examines Ethical Humility

person in bed stretchingThe NASW Ohio Chapter hosted its Wake Up to Social Work Online CEU Series “Acknowledging All Expertise: Ethical Humility.” The presenter was Laura A Gaines, MSW, LISW-S, who offered a clinical and child welfare perspective. Gaines has extensive experience in child and human development, ethics in action, and decades of training experience. The framework of ethical humility supports the use of professional skills and expertise while also acknowledging the expertise of clients and colleagues.


NASW Indiana: Webinar Examines Code of Ethics vs. Executive Orders

Approximately 80 attendees participated in discussions about certain parts of the profession’s Code of Ethics and then identified which of the Indiana governor’s executive orders could be in conflict with the code.
