ASA Conference Theme Focuses on Ageism

on a notepad the words I am too old are written in sharpie with I am scratched out and no one is written below NASW staff and members participated in the American Society on Aging annual conference, held April 21-24. The theme was Ageism, or stereotypes, prejudice and discrimination directed toward others or oneself based upon age, and how it affects our culture. NASW Senior Practice Associate Chris Herman was among the presenters for the session on Building and Integrating a Diverse Social Care Workforce in Health, along with NASW member Robyn Golden, associate vice president of Social Work and Community Health at Rush University Medical Center. Golden also is an NASW Social Work Pioneer® and the recipient of the 2025 Knee/Wittman Outstanding Achievement Award for her work in advancing health and mental health policies that improve patient care.
