NASW to produce member directory

Publication will include important events from association’s history, as part of 60th anniversary celebration this year

To commemorate NASW’s anniversary this year, the association is teaming up with a seasoned membership and alumni firm to produce a special 60th anniversary membership directory.

The directory will include a multipage section featuring important events in the association’s history, similar to NASW’s online interactive timeline of the past 60 years.

Members will also have an opportunity to submit their own text, graphics and photos highlighting their own special moments and celebrations. NASW chapters will have the chance to submit material as well.

Jennifer Watt, director of membership at NASW, urged association members to be on the lookout for an email and postcard campaign that will begin in mid-May from Harris Connect, a firm that has worked with more than 5,000 institutions and membership-based organizations.

The material from Harris Connect will explain the participation process. Members will need to respond to Harris Connect in order to be included in the directory, Watt explained.

“We urge members to follow up with the requests from Harris Connect because members will not be included unless they respond,” she said. “The more people that participate, the richer the project will be.”

There is no cost for members to submit content for the directory and there is no obligation to purchase the directory when it becomes available later this year, Watt said. Once finished, it will be available for $100, she said.

The directory will list names alphabetically and by chapter, Watt noted.

Participation in the directory will also help NASW update its member database with information that members choose to provide, Watt said.

“The member updates are especially important, because NASW needs current information about where our members work and in which fields of social work they practice, to ensure we provide useful information, products and services to our members.”

Once the campaign begins in May, members can submit their materials to Harris Connect. NASW Member Services will be able to answer questions.

They can be reached at 800-742-4089 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. ET Monday-Friday.
