Sharon Gandarilla-Javier, PhD, LMSW, MA

Sharon Gandarilla-Javier

Sharon Gandarilla-Javier, PhD, LMSW, MA, is a former president of the NASW-Florida chapter, a licensed social worker, and a retired New York City police officer with more than two decades of combined experience in law enforcement and social work. Her academic achievements include a doctoral degree in social Welfare from the University of Albany, an MSW from Fordham University, and an MA in Criminology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. Gandarilla-Javier's research interests include the intersection of police and social work, as well as issues related to immigration, intimate partner violence (IPV), and police interventions. She recently shared her expertise on IPV at the NASW National Conference and various chapter events, while also contributing as an expert on IPV and police training panels.
