Sharon A. Barber, LGSW, MCAP
Sharon A. Barber, LGSW, MCAP, earned her MSW from Howard University School of Social Work with a focus on macro social work, community, administration, policy. She has worked
in residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs and in
practice settings such as Hospice, Child Welfare, Homelessness, and Community
Emergency Services/Case Management. She has earned the Masters Level Certified Addictions Professional (MCAP) credential and the LCSW credential.
Barber has experience in macro
social work positions and has been an advocate for programs and public policies
that benefit vulnerable families and individuals. She has assisted in the convening of the
National Social Services Conferences for the Salvation Army in the USA, which prepares
Salvation Army social workers around the country to meet human needs.
Barber is Chair of the Tampa Bay Unit of the NASW Florida
Chapter, an Adjunct Instructor at the University of South Florida School of
Social Work, Tampa, Florida and is employed as a Substance Abuse Counselor with
Operation PAR in St. Petersburg, Florida. She is a Social Work Consultant to
Lealman Church of the Nazarene, Florida and Touch of Jesus Ministry, Virginia.
