Sonya O. Hunte, MSW

Sonya O. Hunte, MSW (Georgia Chapter) earned a Master of Clinical Social Work from Boston College and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Pennsylvania State University. Serves as Director of Family Engagement for Atlanta Public Schools and manages the strategy, implementation, and outcomes for districtwide and school based programs. NASW, Georgia Chapter leadership positions held include: President, Member at Large, Political Action for Candidate Election Committee (PACE) Chair, Executive Director Search Committee Chair, and Delegate. 

Ms. Hunte also served on the Public Affairs Subcommittee for the Atlanta Committee of Dedicating Opportunities to Ending Homelessness, a ten-city pilot derived from President Obama’s, 2010 Opening Doors Plan; Families First, Inc.’s Advisory Board and United Way of Greater Atlanta’s African American Partnership Cabinet. Recognitions include the Georgia Trend Magazine, Forty Under Forty 2013; Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta’s, Strong Award 2013; and NASW Georgia’s Social Worker of the Year 2012.
