NASW Celebrates 70 Years of Advocacy and Advancement

NASW was founded on October 1, 1955, and in celebration of this milestone, we have collected thousands of stories from across the profession. These inspiring member testimonials have shaped NASW’s engagement efforts all year and reinforced the Social Work Month 2025 theme, “Social Work: Compassion + Action.”

In June, NASW also concluded an 18-month rebranding initiative with the introduction of a new logo and a bolder brand identity. As this rollout continues, we’re inviting all generations of social workers to help us build a renewed association vision for the next 70 years.

And, lastly, during this unprecedented time in our nation’s history, NASW reaffirms our social justice mission to advance democracy, diversity and dignity for all. On October 13, we will proudly honor the ethical principles that guide all social work practice.
