Wade decision guaranteeing the right to abortion. Immediately, a criminal abortion ban from 1849 went into effect in Wisconsin, eliminating abortion access in the state. Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin continues to help patients access safe and legal abortion care in states where abortion care remains legal.
