Understanding and Supporting the LGBTQIA2S+ Community

What is PRIDE? What contributions have LGBTQIA+ people made to our world? What defines the culture? Do you know and understand the history of the Gay Rights Movement? What will happen to gay marriage post-Roe?

This training will develop and enrich your knowledge of the LGBTQ+ culture, community and share the history of the struggles faced. We will examine its social movements and advocacy from a historical lens, beginning in the 19th century to today. We’ll explore the political and community environment and learn the lingo to gain an understanding of personal identity development, the coming-out process, and the steps you can take to support the community.

2.5 CEUs available, including 2.5 LGBTQ Hours. Meets the DC Board of Social Work requirement of 2 hours of LGBTQ training
