Professionals at various levels of program management will discuss their experience in collaborating with organizations that support the newest Afghan arrivals.

Learning Objectives:

1. Participants will understand the various applications of the mezzo level of the ecological framework in practice with people from Afghanistan. 
2. Participants will be able to apply unique concepts of community connection when serving people from Afghanistan. 
3. Participants will be able to access the toolkit as they continue to support people from Afghanistan.

This workshop will introduce the "Team as Secure Base Model" and provide opportunities for participants to reflect on how they can behave in a way to promote a secure base for their team across five different domains: availability, sensitivity, acceptance, cooperation, and team belonging.

Presentations include "Parkinson's Disease 101 and Clinical Considerations for Social Work"; "Identifying Community Resources That Support Parkinson's Disease and Being An Active member of the Healthcare Team"; "Caregiver Panel: Family Caregiving Experiences w/ Parkinson's Disease"; and "Ethical Issues/ Considerations With End of Life Care Planning (Act 39)."

Workplace Trauma Exposure happens at the individual, team, organizational, and societal levels, yet many organizations address it only through the lens of “self-care”. This workshop will discuss the evolving framework VT-CWTP uses to recognize, assess, and take action on workplace trauma exposure.

At an ever-increasing rate, social workers are being asked to address both the macro and clinical practice needs of human trafficking survivors. This workshop will provide valuable information about human trafficking as well as practical interventions that social workers can utilize to intervene at both the micro and macro level.
