As we look beyond 2026, the National Association of Social Workers remains steadfast in its commitment to shaping a future where the work profession thrives, and the communities we serve have equitable access to the resources and support they need. The Blueprint has laid a strong foundation for advancing federal advocacy, but our work does not end here. Building on the progress of this strategic framework, we envision a future defined by:

  • Sustainable Advocacy Efforts: Establishing a permanent and well-resourced federal advocacy infrastructure that supports ongoing engagement with policymakers, ensuring the voices of social workers and the communities they serve remain central to decision-making
  • Proactive Policy Development: Anticipating emerging challenges and opportunities in areas such as workforce innovation, climate resilience, and technology's role in social services, positioning social workers as leaders in shaping transformative solutions
  • Deepened Partnerships: Strengthening alliances across sectors to amplify the profession’s impact and build coalitions that champion equity, inclusion, and justice at all levels of policy-making
  • Leadership and Representation: Cultivating a pipeline of social workers prepared to lead in public office, executive positions, and key decision-making roles, ensuring our profession's values are embedded in federal policies for generations to come

The path forward requires not only bold vision but also collective action. By leveraging our network's expertise, engaging in grassroots and grasstops advocacy, and centering the voices of those most impacted by systemic inequities, we can achieve a future that reflects the principles of social justice and equity upon which our profession stands.

Together, we will continue to advocate for policies that empower social workers, enhance access to services, and advance societal well-being—ensuring that our influence extends far beyond 2026. The next chapter begins now, and we are ready to meet the challenges ahead with resolve, purpose, and unity.
