Child Welfare Specialty Practice Section

We are social work professionals that play key roles in child welfare direct practice, supervision, administration, research, training, and program and policy development. Examples of areas of service include: child protective services, family preservation support services, clinical and case management services.

From Child Welfare Section Connection:

"As child welfare professionals work with children and families from various cultures, it is important they learn and use racially and ethnically sensitive practices… Social workers should a) understand culture and its function in human behavior and society, recognizing the strengths that exist in all cultures, b) have a knowledge base of the clients’ cultures and demonstrate competence in the provision of services."
