Children, Adolescents and Young Adults (CAYA) Specialty Practice Section

We are social workers that help to support positive youth development. Examples of areas of service: early childhood; physical, emotional and behavior disorders; life transitions through young adulthood.

From Children, Adolescents and Young Adults Section Connection:

"Social workers can help families with chronically ill or disabled children build resilience. An important part of accomplishing this is building cohesion between the sick child and well siblings. This may include helping the parents and the children develop age-appropriate coping strategies, tolerance, and communication skills."
